Child Care Resource Center 's Early Head Start (EHS) program serves newborns to three year olds in a home based program in the city of Van Nuys. Currently, CCRC is funded to serve 40 children.
EHS is a federally funded community-based program for low-income families with infants and toddlers and pregnant women. Its mission is simple:
- To promote healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women
- To enhance the development of very young children
- To promote healthy family functioning
What can I expect from Early Head Start?
A caring and compassionate visitor will:
- Meet with you in the comfort of your home once a week
- Share learning activities for you to do with your child
- Provide you with information about community resources
- Assist you in planning and achieving family goals
Twice monthly socializations with other parents and children to:
- Meet and talk with other parents
- Learn that you are not alone in the challenges and joys of raising a young child
- Share activity ideas with other families
- Observe your child responding to yourself and others
- Strengthen your relationship with your child
- Share your culture and learn about others
Opportunities for parents to participate in:
- EHS and Head Start program planning and decision making through participation in Parents Committee and Parent Policy Council/Committee
- Educational meetings and workshops regarding Health and Safety, Nutrition, Mental Health Family Services and Disabilities
