What Is Head Start? Head Start is a national program designed to help prepare children for school. CCRC’s Head Start program provides professional services in: - Education and Early Childhood Development
- Medical, Dental, and Mental Health
- Nutrition and Parent Involvement
What Does Head Start Do For Parents? Head Start helps parents care for their preschool-aged children in healthy and productive ways. Head Start also has services for the parents themselves. Some parents learn the English language; others learn to read. Head Start also offers assistance to parents interested in obtaining a high school General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or other adult education opportunities. Parents involved with Head Start are given the opportunity to participate in the program by: - Helping out in the classroom
- Accepting leadership roles in the program
- Joining staff and children in a multitude of activities throughout the year.
What Does Head Start Do For Families? CCRC’s Head Start program strives to ensure that the quality, support, development and educational goals for our children and families are met. Children are given physical and mental health check-ups and families are given aid to help provide a healthy environment for learning and growing. CCRC has five Head Start locations in the San Fernando Valley.
