iLEAD schools donate nearly 1,800 books to CCRC through summer book drive

This year, two iLEAD schools in the Antelope Valley held a book drive to support CCRC’s 2nd Laughs4Literacy event. They collected almost 1,800 books — and we can’t thank them enough! iLEAD also donated books and sponsored last year’s event.

CCRC held a messy paint party as a reward for the grade level that donated the most books. Second grade at the East Lancaster location won by donating almost 500 books by themselves! Amazing! iLEAD Schools also donate their lost and found items to CCRC that we redistribute to kids in need.

Kristan Van Houtan, Director Support at iLead Lancaster, says, “iLEAD Schools, providing educational opportunities nationwide, and CCRC share many similar values including bringing quality education and whole child development and support to the Antelope Valley — that is why this partnership makes so much sense.”

“Many of our families benefit from the programs CCRC offers and our schools thoroughly enjoy providing books each year for the children that are supported through their programs. This partnership is a win-win and is so much fun,” added Van Houtan.

iLEAD stands for international, leadership, entrepreneurial development, arts and design thinking. It’s a community-based free public charter that truly values the social and emotional development of its learners and believes in project-based learning.

If you’d like to donate books, too, please consider recruiting volunteers to host a book drive at your school, organization or company this summer. Contact us at 818-717-1036 to get started!
